LUMIX S5II LUT Trial

I’m currently analysing the LUMIX S5II new sensor colour science and wanted to get your reaction on a few test LUTs with V-Log.

There is an obvious lean towards Magenta in V-Log so in order to achieve better looking skin tones I have created a few test LUTs from my base S5II Technical Colour LUT.

Please feel free to download the LUT below and report back to what you think is your favourite look.

There are VERY subtle tweaks to the colour. Contrast has been balanced for 5500K for now and should work on your NLE without much adjustment if you have exposed your image correctly. ONLY use an offset or a curve in your colour NLE settings (like Davinci) to adjust luminance to your own test footage and report back to me your findings. Check your Vectorscope, then play with saturation & contrast adjustment where required.

Here’s the subtle changes:-

01 – Balanced-contrast-Orig

02-Balanced-contrast-0.01-blue-0.01-red-highlights

03-Balanced-contrast-0.01-blue-0.01-red-shadows

04-Balanced-contrast-+0.01-red

05 – Balanced contrast -0.01 blue /+0.01 red shadows -0.01 green highs

06 – Balanced contrast +0.01 blue

07-Balanced-contrast-0.01-blue-shadows-0.01-green-highlights
